Expert Jury Announced for Fentress Global Challenge 2011: Airport of the Future

Industry Professionals will select Three Finalists from 921 Student Registrations from 77 countries

January 24, 2012—Fentress Architects is pleased to announce the esteemed members of the Final Jury for the 2011 Fentress Global Challenge, an international competition for architecture and engineering students to present their vision for the Airport of the Future.

In August, Fentress Architects invited students from around the world to share their innovative ideas about the future of airport architecture, asking:

  • What is the future of airport design?
  • How will the Airport of the Future look and function? 
  • How will the Airport of the Future accommodate the human experience?

The competition attracted 921 student registrations from 77 countries. The Final Jury will evaluate designs using the following criteria: Creative Approach, Response to Site, Sustainability and Functionality. The student with the most outstanding submission will be awarded the top prize valued at $10,000, including $3,000 cash and a paid internship at Fentress Architects during the summer of 2012. Winning designs will also gain international exposure in the traveling exhibition Now Boarding: Fentress Airports + The Architecture of Flight, providing a multi-media journey through the past, present and future of airport design. The exhibit debuts on July 16, 2012 at the Denver Art Museum. Second and third place winners of the Global Challenge will receive cash awards of $1,000 and $500 respectively.
